Kenneth Royden Prater

Kenneth Royden Prater age 68, passed away on May, 31 2022 in West Valley City, Utah. He was born on November 29, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Dingle Prater, and Lucile Fae Davis. On April 12, 1986 he married Becky Lee Burrows.

He attended Canyon Rim Elementary, Wasatch Jr High, Skyline High School in which he graduated in 1972. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1976.

His hobbies included painting ceramics, wood projects, and oil paintings. He worked with many groups. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Wesley Bell Ringers, Demolay, (Salt Lake Chapter, RW. Moore), Eastern Star (Mizpah # 5, Mountain #2)  Masonic Lodge (Kaibab #25 Salt Lake #17) and Job’s Daughters (Wyoming and Bethel #7 S.L.C) He worked at Sears, Auerbachs, Wyoming State Hospital, Salt Lake County Jail, Oxbow Jail, MHTN Architects, Granite school district as a substitute and paraeducator, and Kohls.

He is survived by his wife Becky; his children: Wilford Prater (Carla), Eliza Prater, Christopher Prater (Alicia), and William Prater (Abby); his sister, Elaine F. Greaves (Keith); his brother, Donald Prater (Elizabeth); grandchildren: Haylee, Benicio, and Elena; great-grandchild, Zariyah; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucile; brother, Gerald; and great nephew, Jackson.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, 11:00 am, at Christ United Methodist Church 2375 east 3300 South Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will take place at Memorial Redwood Mortuaries and Cemeteries 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan Utah.

Suzann Loomis (Withers)

I didn't realize Kenneth was in my graduating class.  I only met him when he married my cousin Becky.  He was such a sweet man and very loving to his children.  It was nice to see him and chat at the prior highschool reunion.
