Scott Marler

Scott Heath Marler

Scott Heath Marler 1954 ~ 2007 Scott H. Marler, 53, much loved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away June 19, 2007 in Sugar Land, TX, following a long, difficult illness. Scott fought his illness like he lived his life- at full speed, and without looking back. Born Feb. 4, 1954 in Salt Lake City, UT to A. Duane and Carolyn Heath Marler. Scott was a member of the LDS church and an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1972. He eventually settled in Houston, TX. where he had a successful career as the Service Manager for a large Honda Ford dealership. During his years of service he and his department received many national awards of excellence. He was especially proud of his business, "RLS", that he owned with friends Bubba and Marc. He put his heart and soul into "RLS" and took great pride in each successful milestone. Scott married the love of his life, Ann Christine Sheppard, on March 11, 1989 and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter Lauren Nicole. Scott was a loving and devoted Daddy and ADORED his little "Goosie Girl". He never missed a single event of Lauren's life. What a Dad! Scott loved being with his family, skiing in Utah, scuba diving in the Cayman Islands, watching Lauren jump horses, but most of all Scott LOVED golf. He talked about it, analyzed it, cussed it and glorified it. He also loved his three dogs and seven cats. His animals gave him comfort and companionship when he was most ill. Scott was a friend to many with his sarcastic wit and long-winded stories. His movie-star looks and confidence drew people to him like a magnet. It was truly an experience knowing Scott. Scott is survived by his sweet wife, Ann; daughter, Lauren (17); mother, Carolyn Marler; brother, Brad Marler; sisters, Tamra (Jack) Martin, M'Liss (Mark) Shurtleff; in-laws, Pete and Susan Sheppard, Carol (Kevin) Kaplan, Kelly (Ross) Reifel and 16 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, A. Duane Marler and grandparents. Funeral Services were held on June 23, 2007 in Sugar Land TX. A memorial service will be held in Salt Lake City, UT. at a later date to be announced. Memories and tributes can be viewed on www.mem.com
