Paul was my friend.  I was lucky to be the last person he spoke with before he died.  I had a streak of inspiration that day to visit him.  I hadn't seen him in a few years but knew he was living in an assited living center. We talked for nearly two hours that day.  We reminisced about younger days, school, mischief, sports, common friends, and motorcycles, we laughed about lighthearted things and spoke of the complexity of life.  Paul was much smarter than most people realize.  He had a brilliant mind, he was inquisitive and expressive about most topics.  We talked a lot about his failing health and some of the problems he battled with.  We talked about faith and family and about his brother Noel and Layne who care for him throughout his life.  I saw him smile, laugh, and then sigh for various reasons.  Noel expressed his gratitude that Paul was able to talk with a friend before he passed away.  I learned again to never deny an impression and how meaningful those experiences can be.  Paul, my friend RIP.
