Katharine Ann "Katie" McKean Seidel of Salt Lake City, died Wednesday, May 1, 1991 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

Born June 25, 1954, Price, Utah to Thomas M. and Karyl I. McKean. Graduated from Skyline High School, 1972. Married Winfried Helmuth Seidel July 3, 1972, Elko, Nevada; separated. A long time employee of J.C. Penney Regional Accounting Office, Salt Lake City.Katie was gentle, warm and loving, displaying great courage and determination in her 21 year battle against brain tumors. Those who loved her have gained much from her loving spirit. She will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to express their immense gratitude to friends, neighbors and member of the LDS Mt. Olympus 5th Ward for the constant care, devotion, support and love shown to Katie during her long illness.

She is survived by her children, Jason Thomas, Travis Win, Lindsey Ann, all of Sandy; father, Thomas M. McKean, Gunlock, Utah; mother, Karyl I. McKean, Salt Lake City; sisters, K. Leslie (Mrs. Douglas L.) Gilmore, South Jordan; S. Liza (Mrs. Richard K.) Gleason, Wellsville; brothers, Thomas Edward, Sonoma, Calif.; Major Kenneth F., USAF, stationed in Saudi Arabia; Scott T., USA Reserves, Green Brae, Calif., recently returned from Desert Storm operations.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 4, 3 p.m., at the LDS Mt. Olympus 5th Ward, 3640 East 3520 South, Salt Lake City. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations requested to American Cancer Society.
