Dear Dave:

I'm enclosing thank-you notes from the two young women we selected to receive the Skyline Class of 1972 scholarships.

I've asked both girls to write a little bit about their future plans in their notes. I wanted to tell you a little bit about what they've done here at Skyline.

Brittany has a 3.6 GPA and has taken Honors and AP classes every year. She has been involved in the

Skyline Community of Caring (an intensive community service class) all three years, as well as Literary Magazine and Orchestra.

Samantha has a 3.5 GPA, with many Honors and AP classes as well. Her focus has been on medicine, and she has taken full advantage of the many medical-related classes offered here and at the Granite

Technical Institute including Sports Medicine, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Medical Assistant.

Both of these young women are outstanding students and Skyline citizens, and they were both absolutely thrilled (many tears were shed) when they learned about the Class of 1972 Scholarship. They both told me that they had not been offered much, if any, other assistance, and this scholarship will definitely help them achieve their college goals.

Please express my thanks, on behalf of Skyline, to the members of the Class of 1972 Foundation, as well as my hopes that you will be able to continue offering this scholarship in the future. Thank you for helping support our awesome students!

Sincerely,

Jane Townsend

Here is the content of the the thank you notes sent to me.

Dear Class of 1972,

My name is Brittany C. and I am the recipient of your 2016 Scholarship! Thank you so much for caring enough to help me go to college.

Finances have always been tight at my house and with my older brother and I both attending summer term and both being unable to use our FAFSA’s (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), one of my biggest stresses of the school year has been how to pay for tuition. Thanks to your generous donation, my summer tuition will be less than $300 which is much more manageable for my family.

I am so thankful to be given this opportunity. Thanks to you, I will be attending BYU this summer with an eye toward majoring in English with an emphasis in creative writing.

Thank you for making this possible!

Sincerely,

Brittany C.

Dear Class of 1972 Alumni Association,

I need to start with thank you! I will be attending the University of Utah next year. On top of this, I want to be a doctor. Specifically I want to be an ER doctor. To expose myself to the medical field, I took Medical Assisting at the Granite Technical Institute. In my class there is a 160 hour externship where I worked at an Intermountain Health Care Instacare.

I will be an endorsed Medical Assistant as soon as I turn 18. I will be looking for a job as a Medical Assistant working part time while I go to college. My parents will be helping me out but I will be working my way through my college education-Med School and whatever lies ahead in my future. I cannot thank you enough for what this will do for me.

Sincerely,

Samantha S.

Thank you to those who gave to this worthy tradition that we have continued since of 40 Year Reunion.
