Alan Spendlove Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Jan. 27, 2025.
On January 22, 2025, Alan Dale Spendlove was greeted by his family that had gone before with open and loving arms. Alan was born on December 10, 1953, to John Clifton and Carol Spendlove. He was the third of five children.
At the age of 19 he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Tennessee. While on his mission his younger brother Michael Spendlove passed away. Alan chose to stay and complete his mission.
Alan was a mechanical engineer. He worked on many projects all over the Salt Lake Valley. One he worked on was the rest stop between Cedar City and St. George. Other projects he worked on were the buildings at the Equestrian Park in South Jordan and the Salt Lake County Jail. He enjoyed his career. He loved math and was able to use his love for math on a daily basis.
Upon returning from his mission, he met Lindy White. They were married on December 30, 1975. Together they had four children. Jason, Michelle, Trisha, and Nicholas. They later divorced.
Later he met Shauna Nelson Holling. They were married on November 4th, 2017. She brought her four children into the family. Joey, Elaina, Adrian, and Jenni, which he loved as his own. He was blessed with a family of eight children and 12 grandchildren. He loved having family all around him. He was never without a dad joke to tell.
He enjoyed many hobbies in his life. Some included martial arts, which he had been participating in since he was a teenager. Guns and shooting, he would spend hours in the garage in his "Gun Room" reloading his ammunition. He would go out almost every Saturday shooting. He also picked up the sport of golf. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends. He sometimes had a group that would go out every Saturday.
He was a great handy man. He would fix things all around the house. He even finished the basement in his house in South Jordan into a basement apartment. His children were able to use it when they needed to when they were first married. He loved to help out his kids when he could.
He will be missed by many. We are happy to know that he has been reunited with those he loved on the other side.
